Fundación Periodismo Plural
The Fundació Peiodisme Plural was founded in February 2013 by a group of journalists and intellectuals. It has been declared of social interest and is the first non-profit organisation created in the field of journalism. The Fundació Periodisme Plural has its own view of reality. A view that can be summed up in the defence of human rights, including the “right to truthful and plural information”.
The Fundació Periodisme Plural has the will to create useful tools for the communities that are in the front line in the defence of essential rights, education, health, work, housing, gender equality, welcoming immigrants and refugees… We share these objectives with citizens who have decided to get involved in making independent journalism possible because they know that their support is crucial for democracy.
The Fundació’s formula allows us to proclaim from the outset and with total transparency that journalism should not be for profit’, but for the service of citizens. The facilities of communities of readers. With credibility and an ethical horizon. With the involvement of citizens. With an alliance between journalism and an active society. With economic formulas that guarantee our independence.
The Fundació Periodisme Plural publishes several media. Among them, El Diari de l’Educació (2014) and El Diario de la Educación (2016). Together they constitute a project with the vocation of contributing to democratic quality through the practice of journalism. With the will to vindicate, as established in the Foundation’s statutes, “independent, critical and free journalism, and the promotion of information and public debate as vital elements of citizenship.
