After 60 editions and over 180 articles in four languages, XQ The News is closing a chapter characterised by education, collaboration, and socially conscious journalism.
With the arrival of summer, XQ The News will be taking a break from its weekly publication schedule. We will be back in September, but before saying goodbye for a few months, we would like to share a brief overview of everything we have achieved so far. Above all, this project has been a collective space for training, journalistic practice, and reflection on the major issues facing our societies.
Since its inception, XQ The News has published 60 editions and over 180 articles in four languages. During this time, a wide range of contributors have participated, from interns to established journalists and experts from various fields, providing committed, sensitive and rigorous content on social, political and cultural issues such as climate change, mental health, democratic participation, human rights, disinformation and gender equality.
The project has also included an international internship programme, enabling journalism students from Spain, Italy and Portugal to join real newsrooms, receive specialised training, and publish their own articles with professional support.
A particular highlight was the Barcelona Congress, which brought together journalists, trainers and institutions to share experiences, listen to inspiring talks and discuss the role of journalism in a democratic society.
We have also developed open educational resources, including the project’s eBook. This is now available and contains content developed by each partner in their area of expertise. The result is a diverse and inspiring collection of perspectives that can be adapted to different educational contexts.
Additionally, XQ The News has attended international events such as the Forum of Mediterranean Women Journalists, contributing critical and constructive perspectives to debates on the future of journalism and the role of young people.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey by reading and sharing our content, participating in our training courses, and collaborating with our team. Without your support, this project would not be possible.
We will meet again in September with new stories, new voices, and the same commitment to continuing to build a European journalism that is young, socially relevant, and open to dialogue.
