This is inhaled unintentionally by people in contact with one or more “active” smokers and is the main indoor pollutant. It is the result of the smoke exhaled by the active smoker (tertiary stream), in addition to the smoke produced by the slow and incomplete combustion of the cigarette left burning in the ashtray or in the hand between puffs (secondary stream).
