It is the representation of a future imaginary reality based on negative trends of the present, in which society is characterised by oppression, fear and extreme conditions. Unlike utopia, which represents an ideal world, dystopia depicts a reality dominated by authoritarian governments, environmental crises or out-of-control technologies that create a difficult and frightening existence for people.
