The 2030 Agenda is the result of governments and citizens around the world working together to create a new global model to end poverty, promote prosperity and well-being for all, protect the environment and combat climate change. It comprises 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), successors to the 8 Millennium Development Goals, to be implemented by all countries, covering areas as diverse as equitable access to quality education and health services, the creation of decent jobs, energy and environmental sustainability, the conservation and management of oceans, the promotion of effective institutions and stable societies, and the fight against inequality at all levels.
