The WHO states that 280 million people suffer from depression globally, there are more than 700,000 suicides per year, and it is the fourth leading cause of death in young people aged 15-29. With the present interconnection between depression, mental health and suicide, a particular population group becomes vulnerable: they are the relatives of people who have committed suicide, also called “survivors. “Postvention”, a crucial form of prevention, focuses on those affected by a self-inflicted death.
